why Only Ramadhan...?
Assalamualaikum,
Just wanna share something i got from Safa..such an enlightenment...I never actually realized about it before..it's about Ramadhan. She was telling me that Ramadhan is not the only time when we have to strive in performing more ibadats and improving their quality...in fact, we should be doing it all the time. She wonders why people are making such a big deal out of Ramadhan (yes, it is a special month of course and insyaAllah u will be rewarded more) like planning to khatam the Quran by the end of the month and such..when we should be ashamed of ourselves cos Rasulullah and his sahabats used to khatam the Quran every 40 days..which was continuous through out the year regardless if it was Ramadhan or not.
So instead of having 'tadarus al-Quran', prayers in congregation, tazkirahs etc only in Ramadhan, we should instead make the coming month a time for us to practice and start improving in our daily ibadats, so that we can 'istiqamah' in practising them in the coming months...all year.
Compare how the sahabats regard Ramadhan to how we do...well admit it, most of us see it as a month preceding Hari Raya ('Eidul-Fitr)..new 'baju kurung', 'kuih raya', 'duit raya', etc etc.which we just can't wait for, right? right?...In contrast, the sahabats worried for the next 6 months after Ramadhan, praying to Allah that their ibadats will be accepted...and for the next 6 months prepared for the coming Ramadhan, longing for the arrival of that special month...do we ever feel that way??
They cried when Ramadhan was gone..but we? We 'cry' in happiness,,,we can blame our culture for that,,yes,,but we should at least feel a wee bit sad deep inside our hearts..That will indicate how much we appreciate the period of Ramadhan...and hopefully that will motivate us to continue our Ramadhan practices..
So lets hope this coming Ramadhan will be a start for the better in all of us (maybe a continuation for some), and insyaAllah be an improvement that will not fade away even when Ramadhan starts to say good-bye...
~wallahu'alam~
;) keep the Faith!
